Cryptocurrency Research: A Snapshot
Current State of the Field
This paper provides a snapshot of the current state of cryptocurrency research based on the papers presented at the 47th Annual Conference of the Association for Information Systems.
Growing Interest in Cryptocurrencies
Cryptocurrencies have garnered significant attention from academics and practitioners in nearly every scholarly discipline. This interest is reflected in the growing number of papers published on the topic, as well as the increasing number of conferences and workshops devoted to cryptocurrency research.
The current state of cryptocurrency research is characterized by a diversity of perspectives and approaches. Some researchers are focused on developing new cryptocurrency technologies, while others are exploring the economic, social, and legal implications of cryptocurrencies.
Despite the growing interest in cryptocurrencies, there is still a lack of consensus on many fundamental issues. For example, there is no universally accepted definition of a cryptocurrency, and there is still debate over the best way to regulate cryptocurrencies.
The lack of consensus on these issues is likely to continue in the near future, as the cryptocurrency ecosystem continues to evolve.
