UHP trooper in Wallsburg fatal crash identified

Two vehicle accidents involving motorcycles occur in Utah

PROVO CANYON, Utah (ABC4) – A motorcyclist is recovering after a crash in Provo Canyon.

UHP troopers were called to the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle and a car on State Route 189 near milepost 14 at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

According to UHP, a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on SR-189 when it collided with a 2015 Toyota Camry that was turning left onto SR-189 from 9000 South.

The motorcyclist, a 60-year-old man from Pleasant Grove, was transported to Utah Valley Hospital in serious condition. The driver of the Camry, a 55-year-old woman from Provo, was not injured.

UHP is still investigating the cause of the crash.

WALLSBURG, Utah (KUTV) – Troopers with the Utah Highway Patrol have released the name of a trooper who died in a crash on Saturday.

The trooper has been identified as Trooper Nicholas Lee Davis. He was 32 years old and had been with UHP for two years.

Davis was on his way home from work when his motorcycle was involved in a crash with a pickup truck on State Route 36 near Wallsburg.

Davis was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 57-year-old man from Heber City, was not injured.

UHP is still investigating the cause of the crash.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Trooper Davis,” said UHP Col. Michael Rapich. “He was a dedicated and hardworking trooper who will be greatly missed.”

Davis is the third UHP trooper to die in a crash in the past year.
