Killer dog to be destroyed after it attacked two young children
The dangerous pet mauled a six-year-old girl as she walked home from school with her four-year-old brother
The dog has been seized and will be put down after the attack in Preston, Lancashire
A dog that mauled two young children as they walked home from school has been seized and will be put down.
The six-year-old girl and her four-year-old brother were attacked by the American Bulldog-type dog as they walked along Longridge Road in Preston, Lancashire, on Tuesday afternoon.
Both children were taken to hospital, but it is believed that the dog will be destroyed after they were left traumatised by the horrific attack.
The girl was left with serious facial injuries and her brother has bite marks to his body.
RSPCA inspector Beth Boyd said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack that has left both the victims and their family extremely traumatised.”
“The dog was out of control and attacked these young children for no reason.”
“It is a dangerous dog, and I believe that the only safe course of action is to have it destroyed.”
The dog's owner has been spoken to by police and the RSPCA and is helping with their enquiries.
