Passenger Rescued After Falling Off Cruise Ship
Coast Guard Says Woman Overboard Incident Culminated in Rare Happy Ending
Passengers Onboard Royal Caribbean Vessel Helped In Rescue
A woman who fell overboard from the 10th deck of a Royal Caribbean cruise ship was rescued after passengers onboard the vessel helped in the rescue effort. The incident occurred on Sunday after an unidentified woman fell into the ocean more than 30 miles off the coast of Florida. The Coast Guard says the woman was able to stay afloat for several hours before she was spotted by a nearby vessel. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
In a separate incident, a passenger on a Carnival Cruise Line ship fell off a balcony and into the Pacific Ocean early Saturday. The woman was reported missing by her family and an international search effort was launched. The woman's body was found several hours later by a search and rescue team. The Coast Guard is investigating the incident.
