California's IID program is managed by two separate agencies:

• Judicial Program: Managed by the courts, this program applies to DUI convictions where an IID is ordered as part of probation.
• Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Program: Conducted statewide, this program applies to administrative suspensions or revocations where an IID is required for license reinstatement.

Impact of IID Restrictions

IID restrictions prohibit individuals from operating vehicles without an IID installed. It is illegal to lease, lend, or borrow vehicles without an IID. Additionally, operating a motorcycle while subject to an IID restriction is prohibited.
