The Truth Behind the Heart of the Ocean

From Fiction to Reality

If you've seen the cinematic masterpiece “Titanic,” you're undoubtedly captivated by the iconic Heart of the Ocean diamond. But did you know that the coveted piece wasn't just a figment of James Cameron's imagination? As it turns out, there's more to this dazzling gem than meets the eye.

A Historical Connection

In 1895, Joseph Ascher created a magnificent diamond and sapphire necklace named Le Coeur de la Mer (The Heart of the Sea). While it differed from the cinematic version in size and color (featuring a blue heart-shaped diamond), it served as the inspiration behind the famous Heart of the Ocean.

The necklace was last known to have been owned by Evelyn Walsh McLean. After her death, the necklace vanished, adding further intrigue to its legend.
