Dengue Cases Surge in Nepal

Dengue has become a rapidly growing concern in Nepal, with the country actively conducting vector surveillance. In 2023, 171,991 dengue cases have been reported in countries in the region, resulting in 753 deaths.

Widespread Transmission and Delayed Reporting

Nepal has seen a significant increase in dengue cases in recent weeks. During week 40 (October 1-7, 2023), a total of 1,755 dengue cases were reported through surveillance systems. From June to December 2023, over 51,243 dengue cases were confirmed in the country.

Call for Urgent Action

Health officials have expressed concern over the escalating dengue situation in Nepal and have called for urgent action to curb its spread. Measures such as vector control, public awareness campaigns, and improved healthcare facilities are crucial to contain the outbreak and prevent further fatalities.
