FLiRT Strain of Coronavirus Detected in Ukraine
3 Cases Reported in July
The Ukrainian Ministry of Health has reported that three cases of the new FLiRT strain of coronavirus were detected in the country in July. Two of the cases were identified in Kyiv, and one was detected in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
FLiRT Variant
The FLiRT strain is a subvariant of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. It was first identified in April 2022, and has since been spreading in several countries around the world. The FLiRT strain is characterized by two mutations that make it more transmissible than other variants of Omicron.
Symptoms and Transmission
The symptoms of the FLiRT strain are similar to those of other variants of COVID-19, including fever, cough, shortness of breath, and loss of taste or smell. It is spread through close contact with an infected person or by touching surfaces that have been contaminated with the virus.
Prevention and Treatment
The best way to prevent infection with the FLiRT strain is to get vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. Other preventive measures include wearing a mask in public settings, washing your hands frequently, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
There is no specific treatment for the FLiRT strain. Treatment is supportive and includes measures such as rest, hydration, and pain relief.
