New NHS Soup and Shake Diet
Diet to be Offered to Type 2 Diabetes Sufferers
Program found to be widely successful
Tens of thousands more people in England living with type 2 diabetes could be offered an 800-calorie-a-day soup and shake diet after a major study found the radical NHS programme works at scale and is helping hundreds of people put their type 2 diabetes into remission.
The eight-week programme, which costs £300 per patient, involves participants consuming soups and shakes containing the right balance of nutrients. One third of participants with type 2 diabetes who complete the programme involving the soups and shakes put their diabetes into remission.
The programme is being offered to people around the country, after a third shed lots of weight – nearly two-and-a-half stone (16kg) – and put their diabetes into remission.
People can reverse their type 2 diabetes by going on a strict 900-calorie-a-day of soups and shakes.
