Dengue Fever Update: Health Ministry Provides Epidemiological Information

Spike in Dengue Fever Cases

The country is witnessing a surge in dengue fever cases, with recent reports indicating a concerning trend. As of July 17, 2024, the Ministry of Health has released an epidemiological update on the situation.

Confirmations and Fatalities

Unfortunately, the Ministry has confirmed several dengue-related deaths, bringing the total number to eight. The latest victims include individuals confirmed to have contracted the virus through laboratory testing.

The testing process for dengue can take up to two weeks, which may delay the confirmation of cases. However, the Ministry continues to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as they become available.

Reported Cases

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 76 million dengue cases have been reported globally as of April 30, 2024. This underscores the widespread nature of the disease and the need for heightened awareness and prevention measures.

The Ministry of Health urges the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from dengue fever. This includes eliminating mosquito breeding sites around homes and workplaces, using mosquito repellent, and seeking medical attention promptly if experiencing symptoms.
