SAP Acquires WalkMe in a $8.1 Billion Deal

Software giant SAP announced on Tuesday that it would acquire digital adoption platform provider WalkMe in an all-cash transaction valued at $8.1 billion.

The acquisition, which is expected to close in the second half of 2023, will strengthen SAP's position in the enterprise software market and enhance its ability to provide its customers with innovative and user-friendly solutions.

WalkMe's digital adoption platform helps businesses improve employee productivity and user experience by providing personalized guidance and support within their existing software applications. The company's technology has been adopted by over 2,000 customers worldwide, including leading enterprises such as Microsoft, PayPal, and Salesforce.

SAP plans to integrate WalkMe's capabilities into its own software products and solutions, offering its customers a more seamless and intuitive user experience. The acquisition will also allow SAP to tap into WalkMe's extensive expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), which can be used to further refine and enhance its software offerings.

“The acquisition of WalkMe is a strategic move for SAP that will enable us to provide our customers with a truly differentiated experience,” said Christian Klein, CEO of SAP. “WalkMe's technology and team will be invaluable in our mission to deliver user-centric, cloud-first, and industry-specific solutions that help our customers succeed in the digital economy.”
