Temporary Closure of Runway at Narita International Airport

Emergency Landing Forces Shutdown of Runway

Tokyo (Web) – One of the two runways at Narita International Airport near Tokyo was temporarily closed on Tuesday after an emergency landing by a cargo plane.

The Boeing 747 cargo jet operated by Atlas Air was en route to Los Angeles when it was forced to turn back to Narita for an emergency landing shortly after takeoff.

The incident comes just one day after a separate incident at Tokyo's Haneda Airport, where a plane caught fire on the runway during landing.
