Air Canada Pilots on Strike Ready

Montreal – The union handed out lanyards, stickers, and pins showing the phrase to over 5,500 pilots.

The strike vote concludes on August 12.

The union representing Air Canada pilots is distributing items with the phrase “Strike Ready” to its members as a strike vote nears its closing date.

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) is distributing lanyards, stickers, and pins featuring the phrase to its more than 5,500 members.

The strike vote is set to close on August 12, and if successful, could lead to a strike by Air Canada pilots as early as next month.

The union has been in negotiations with Air Canada since May, but the two sides have yet to reach an agreement on a new contract.

The union is seeking wage increases, improved benefits, and better working conditions. Air Canada has said it is committed to reaching a fair deal with the union, but has not yet met all of the union's demands.

The strike vote is a significant development in the ongoing labor dispute between Air Canada and its pilots.

If the pilots vote in favor of a strike, it would be the first major airline strike in Canada since 2012.
