Chicago Triathlon Returns This Weekend With Street Closures
Road Closures In Effect Saturday & Sunday
The 41st annual Chicago Triathlon is back in full force this weekend, and with it comes a number of street closures that will affect drivers in the downtown area.
Columbus Drive will be closed from Roosevelt Road to Balbo Drive beginning on Saturday, August 26th, as race organizers set up the finish line for the event.
Other street closures will be in effect on Sunday, August 27th, the day of the race. These closures will include:
* **Full closure of Lake Shore Drive** from Fullerton Avenue to 31st Street from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM. * **Partial closure of DuSable Lake Shore Drive** from 31st Street to 51st Street from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM. * **Full closure of Monroe Street** from Lake Shore Drive to Columbus Drive from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The Chicago Triathlon is one of the largest and most prestigious triathlons in the world, attracting thousands of athletes from around the globe. The race consists of a 1.5-mile swim, a 40-mile bike ride, and a 10-mile run.
