Bayer Leverkusen chief addresses Jonathan Tah to Barcelona transfer talk
Barcelona have been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah
The 26-year-old has been a key player for Leverkusen in recent seasons and has also been capped by Germany on 15 occasions.
Tah has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent months, with the Spanish giants reportedly keen on strengthening their defence.
However, Leverkusen's sporting director, Simon Rolfes, has now played down the speculation, insisting that Tah is not for sale.
“Jonathan Tah is a very important player for us and we are not planning to sell him,” Rolfes told Sky Sports. “He is a key part of our team and we are counting on him for the future.”
Tah's contract with Leverkusen runs until 2025, and it is understood that the club would demand a significant fee for him if they were to sell him.
Barcelona are known to be in the market for a new centre-back, with Gerard Pique set to retire at the end of the season. However, it seems that Tah is not a target for the Catalan club at this time.
Why is Jonathan Tah not a target for Barcelona?
- Tah is a key player for Leverkusen and the club is not willing to sell him.
- Tah's contract with Leverkusen runs until 2025, and the club would demand a significant fee for him if they were to sell him.
- Barcelona are reportedly interested in other centre-backs, such as Jules Kounde of Sevilla and Matthijs de Ligt of Juventus.
