Former Cy Young Award Winner Might Return From Long Absence Against Angels

A Long-Awaited Return

Former Cy Young Award winner Mike Clevinger is expected to make his return to the mound for the Chicago White Sox against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday, according to multiple reports.

A Tumultuous Journey

Clevinger, 32, hasn't pitched in a Major League Baseball game since September 2021 due to Tommy John surgery. The right-hander was a key part of the Indians' rotation in 2020 when he finished 13-4 with a 2.56 ERA, leading the league in strikeouts per nine innings.

A Glimmer of Hope

Clevinger's return would be a significant boost for the White Sox, who have struggled with injuries to their starting rotation this season. The veteran pitcher has a career 3.69 ERA and 1,238 strikeouts in 172 starts.
