Minnesota played a gritty and determined match, never giving up despite facing a set point in the fourth set. The Gophers' defense was also strong, as they held Texas's All-American outside hitter Logan Eggleston to just 12 kills.
Texas's Loss
The loss was a disappointing one for Texas, which had been ranked No. 1 in the AVCA Coaches Poll since the preseason. The Longhorns were coming off a 3-0 victory over No. 10 Baylor on Wednesday night.
Despite the setback, Texas remains one of the top teams in the country. The Longhorns will look to bounce back next week when they host No. 15 Iowa State on Friday night.
