Jack Grealish, Levi Colwill Set for England Starts Against Republic of Ireland

Aston Villa midfielder and Chelsea defender to be given chance to impress Gareth Southgate in high-stakes friendly

Jack Grealish and Levi Colwill are set to be handed starts when England face the Republic of Ireland in a friendly at Wembley on Thursday, November 17.

Gareth Southgate is without a number of key players for the game due to injury, including Raheem Sterling, Harry Maguire, and Kalvin Phillips.

This has given the England manager the opportunity to give some of his fringe players a chance to impress ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

Grealish has been in impressive form for Aston Villa this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 13 Premier League appearances.

The 27-year-old has yet to become a regular for England, but he will be hoping to use the friendly against the Republic of Ireland to stake his claim for a place in Southgate's World Cup squad. According to The Telegraph, Grealish is expected to start on the left wing.

Colwill, meanwhile, has been one of the most impressive young defenders in the Premier League this season.

The 19-year-old has made seven appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, and he has helped the Blues keep three clean sheets.

Colwill is expected to start alongside John Stones at the heart of England's defense against the Republic of Ireland. The game will be a good opportunity for the youngster to show Southgate that he is ready for the international stage.

Southgate is expected to make a number of other changes to his team for the friendly against the Republic of Ireland.

Aaron Ramsdale is likely to start in goal, while Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fikayo Tomori, and Kieran Trippier are all in contention to start in defense.

Jude Bellingham and Conor Gallagher are likely to start in midfield, while Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden are expected to play on the wings.

Harry Kane will lead the line for England against the Republic of Ireland. The Tottenham striker is England's all-time leading goalscorer, and he will be looking to add to his tally against the Irish.
