Quinyon Mitchell to Start in Eagles Opener, per Fangio

Rookie Cornerback to Make NFL Debut

Quinyon Mitchell, a rookie cornerback for the Philadelphia Eagles, is set to make his NFL debut in the team's season opener against the Detroit Lions, according to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

Mitchell, a sixth-round pick out of the University of Texas, has impressed the Eagles' coaching staff with his athleticism and ball skills during training camp and the preseason.

Fangio said that Mitchell will start alongside Darius Slay and Avonte Maddox in the Eagles' base defense, and he is expected to see a significant amount of playing time.

Mitchell's Opportunity

Mitchell's opportunity to start is due in part to injuries to other Eagles cornerbacks.

Zech McPhearson, who started 13 games last season, is out with a hamstring injury, and Josiah Scott, who started five games, is also injured.

Mitchell has taken advantage of his機會 and has shown that he is ready to contribute.

Mitchell's Strengths

Mitchell is a physical cornerback with good size and strength.

He is also a good tackler and has shown a knack for making big plays.

In the preseason, Mitchell had two interceptions, including one that he returned for a touchdown.

Mitchell's Challenge

Mitchell's biggest challenge will be adjusting to the speed and physicality of the NFL game.

He will also need to learn how to read opposing quarterbacks and make quick decisions.

But Fangio is confident that Mitchell is up to the task.

“He's a smart player and he's a hard worker,” Fangio said. “I think he's going to be a good player for us.”
