Sonia Bompastor: 'A really special moment'

Lyon boss Sonia Bompastor hailed her side's 3-1 win over Chelsea in the Women's Champions League final as “a really special moment.”

The French side secured their eighth title in the competition thanks to goals from Amandine Henry, Catarina Macario and Ada Hegerberg.

Bompastor, who became the first female coach to win the Women's Champions League, said: “It's a really special moment for us. We've worked so hard for this and we're so happy to have won it.

“We knew that Chelsea were a very good team, but we were confident that we could beat them. We played our own game and we created a lot of chances.”

Lyon took the lead through Henry in the 23rd minute, but Chelsea equalised through Pernille Harder just before half-time.

Macario restored Lyon's lead in the 54th minute, and Hegerberg sealed the victory in the 85th minute.

“We're going to enjoy this victory, but we're also going to stay focused on the rest of the season,” added Bompastor. “We want to win the league and the cup, and we're going to do everything we can to achieve that.”
