New England Revolution Earn 2-2 Draw with St. Louis CITY SC

Revitalized Revs Show Fight to Secure Road Point

Langoni and Gil Ignite Second Half Comeback for Visitors

Foxborough, MA – The New England Revolution emerged from their slumber to secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw against St. Louis CITY SC in a captivating MLS clash at Lumen Field on Saturday night.

The hosts, seeking their first home win of the season, started on the front foot and grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute through a clinical finish from João Klauss. The Revolution struggled to find their footing in the opening exchanges, but their fortunes changed with the introduction of substitute striker Giacomo Vrioni in the 60th minute.

Vrioni's impact was immediate, as his presence up front created space and opportunities for his teammates. The equalizer arrived in the 63rd minute when Justin Rennicks found space on the left flank and delivered a teasing cross into the box. Miguel Berry's flick-on found Gustavo Bou, whose low strike was parried away by Roman Bürki.

Gil, who had been lively after coming off the bench, was on hand to hammer the rebound into the net, leveling the score at 1-1. The Argentine winger continued to torment the St. Louis defense, and his trickery on the right-hand side earned the Revolution a penalty in the 72nd minute.

Langoni stepped up and coolly slotted home the spot-kick, giving the visitors an unlikely lead. However, St. Louis refused to be defeated and restored parity in the 77th minute when Jared Stroud's cross found Klauss at the far post for a simple tap-in.

Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither could find a decisive goal. The draw extends the Revolution's unbeaten run to three games and lifts them to 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings, while St. Louis remains in 12th.

The Revolution will look to maintain their momentum when they host the Philadelphia Union at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, August 12th. St. Louis CITY SC, meanwhile, will travel to face the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on the same day.
