Premier League Match Summary: Fulham and West Ham Draw 1-1

London Stadium, 26 August 2024

Fulham came from 1-0 down as they earned a 1-1 draw against West Ham in the Premier League on Tuesday. Michail Antonio's close-range finish looked to have put West Ham in control mid-way through the first half. West Ham dominated much of the first half, however, Fulham came out a different side in the second half. The Whites turned the game on its head through substitute Ivan Cavaleiro, who saw his shot deflect in off Angelo Ogbonna.

Fulham began brightly and looked the more threatening inside the opening 10 minutes. However, it was the home side that took the lead in the 21st minute. Jarrod Bowen was involved in the build-up yet again before finding Antonio in the box, and the striker side-footed home from close range.

That goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of Fulham as West Ham controlled much of the remaining time in the first half. Gianluca Scamacca fired a free-kick over the bar, Declan Rice sent a shot wide from outside the box, and Bowen nearly doubled the Hammers' lead with a fine solo effort.

But Fulham came out reinvigorated after the break and they were soon causing West Ham all sorts of problems going forward. Willian was the Whites' chief threat down the left-hand side, and it was he who provided the assist for Cavaleiro's goal.

The Portuguese forward, who had come on shortly after the hour mark, saw his shot deflect off Ogbonna and into the net. It was a lucky goal but Fulham deserved it on the balance of the second-half play.

Fulham stayed on top for the rest of the game but could not find a winning goal. Andreas Pereira saw a shot saved by Lukasz Fabianski, and Cavaleiro came close to scoring again only to see his prodded effort cleared off the line.

Ultimately, both sides had to settle for a point.
