Nathaniel Phillips seals loan move to Turkey after Liverpool exit

Defender to spend season at Süper Lig side Trabzonspor

Phillips leaves Liverpool after five years with the club

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips has joined Turkish Süper Lig side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan.

The 25-year-old centre-back has left Anfield after five years with the club, having made 23 appearances for the first team.

Phillips was part of the Liverpool squad that won the Premier League title in 2020 and the Champions League in 2019.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth, helping the Cherries win promotion to the Premier League.

Phillips is a product of the Liverpool academy and has been with the club since he was 18 years old.

He made his debut for the first team in January 2020, in a FA Cup third-round tie against Everton.

Phillips has also been capped by England at under-21 level.

Trabzonspor are the current Turkish Süper Lig champions and will be competing in the Champions League group stages this season.

Phillips will be hoping to get regular playing time at Trabzonspor and help the club defend their title.

The move to Turkey is a good opportunity for Phillips to develop his game and gain valuable experience at a high level.

He will be hoping to impress at Trabzonspor and earn a place in Liverpool's first team next season.
