Eagles Updated 53-Man Roster vs. Falcons: News and Notes for Week 2
53-Man Roster Update
The Philadelphia Eagles released their latest 53-man roster ahead of their week 2 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. In a series of moves, the Eagles released multiple players, signed a few, and placed others on injured reserve.
Notable releases include running back Elijah Holyfield, defensive tackle Anthony Rush, and punter Brett Kern. In response, the Eagles signed running back Trey Sermon and punter Arryn Siposs to fill those empty roster spots.
Unfortunately, the Eagles also placed cornerback Josiah Scott on injured reserve with an ankle injury he suffered during the first pre-season game. Wide receiver Greg Ward was also placed on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury during the team's week 1 game against the Detroit Lions.
To take their place, the Eagles signed defensive tackle Marvin Wilson and elevated cornerback Mario Goodrich from the practice squad.
Injury Report
In addition to the injuries mentioned above, several other players are listed on the Eagles' injury report for week 2:
- Linebacker Davion Taylor (calf) – Questionable
- Safety Jaquiski Tartt (knee) – Questionable
- Tight end Tyree Jackson (knee) – Out
- Cornerback Zech McPhearson (hamstring) – Doubtful
- Defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu (knee) – Out
The Eagles will have to weigh the risks of playing these injured players against the potential of further injury in their attempt to get the win.
Gameday Updates
The Eagles will host the Falcons this Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field for a 1 p.m. kickoff. The game will be broadcast on Fox and can be live-streamed on fuboTV.
The Eagles are favored to win the game, but the Falcons have a history of playing the Eagles tough, so anything can happen.
