WATCH: Jets fans set Drake Maye's jersey on fire ahead of Patriots clash

Jets fans send message with fiery protest

It's no secret that New York Jets fans are passionate about their team. They're also not afraid to show their displeasure when things aren't going their way. On Sunday, a group of Jets fans took their frustrations to a new level by setting fire to a Drake Maye jersey.

What happened?

The incident occurred before the Jets' game against the New England Patriots. A group of fans gathered outside MetLife Stadium and set fire to a Maye jersey, complete with the number 10 on the back. The fans then proceeded to chant “F–k Drake Maye” and “We want Darnold.”

Why are Jets fans so upset with Maye?

There are a few reasons why Jets fans are so upset with Maye. First, Maye is a highly touted quarterback who was drafted by the Jets in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. However, Maye has struggled to live up to expectations in his rookie season. In three games, he has thrown for just 452 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions.

Second, Maye's struggles have come at a time when the Jets are struggling as a team. The Jets are currently 0-3 and have looked lost on offense in all three games. Fans are frustrated with the team's performance and they're taking it out on Maye.

What does this mean for Maye and the Jets?

The fire incident is a clear sign that Jets fans are losing patience with Maye. If he doesn't start to improve his play soon, he could lose his starting job. The Jets are also in danger of missing the playoffs for the 12th consecutive season. If they don't start to turn things around soon, there will be even more angry fans in the stands.
