Parents pay tribute to 'loving and caring' schoolgirl after tragic accident

A schoolgirl has died at her home in a “game gone wrong”, police have said. Connie Gent, 12, was found dead at a property in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, on Monday afternoon (November 7).

Police have confirmed that they are not treating the death as suspicious and said they are working to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.

Connie's parents, Alison and Ian, said in a statement: “Connie was a beautiful, kind and funny girl who was full of life. She was always smiling and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.”

“We would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time. We would also ask that our privacy is respected.”

Police appeal for information

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Lewis said: “Our thoughts are with Connie's family and friends during this difficult time.

“Connie was a well-loved and popular young girl and her death has come as a great shock to the local community.

“We are working closely with the family to establish the exact circumstances of what happened and we are appealing for anyone who may have any information about this incident to please contact us.”

Connie's school pays tribute

Ysgol Dewi Sant paid tribute to Connie in a statement, saying: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the tragic death of our pupil, Connie Gent.

“Connie was a kind and caring student who was always willing to help others. Our thoughts are with Connie's family and friends at this difficult time.”

What is known about the investigation so far?

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of Connie's death, but have ruled out any suspicious circumstances.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place later this week.
