Le Tissier Backs Manchester United Teammate Clinton to Shine for Club and Country
Former Southampton and England striker Matt Le Tissier has backed his former Manchester United teammate Darren Clinton to shine for both club and country.
Clinton, who is currently playing for League One side Plymouth Argyle, has been in impressive form this season, scoring five goals in his last seven appearances.
Le Tissier, who played with Clinton at Manchester United in the early 1990s, believes that the 24-year-old has the potential to become a top player.
“Darren is a very talented player,” said Le Tissier. “He is quick, strong, and has a good eye for goal. I think he has the potential to be a top player for both club and country.”
Clinton, who has represented England at under-21 level, is hoping to break into the senior team soon.
“It would be a dream come true to play for England,” he said. “I am working hard to achieve that goal.”
Clinton will have the chance to impress Gareth Southgate when Plymouth Argyle face England in a friendly match at Wembley on November 15.
