Ex-Juventus and Italy legend makes transfer claim to Roy Keane

Former Juventus and Italy legend Alessandro Del Piero has made a transfer claim to Roy Keane about Sunderland. Del Piero believes the Black Cats should sign Manchester United defender Phil Jones in the summer.

Jones has been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light in recent weeks. The England international is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season and is available on a free transfer.

Del Piero told Keane that Jones would be a good signing for Sunderland. The Italian believes the defender has the experience and quality to help the Black Cats avoid relegation from the Championship.

However, Keane was not convinced by Del Piero's claim. The former Manchester United captain believes Jones is not good enough to play for Sunderland.

Keane said: “I don't think Phil Jones is good enough for Sunderland. He's not a good enough player. He's not a good enough defender. He's not good enough on the ball. He's not good enough in the air.

It remains to be seen whether Sunderland will sign Jones in the summer. The Black Cats are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season. They are currently 22nd in the Championship and face relegation to League One.
