Matt McLain and Christian Encarnacion-Strand are ‘rehabbing’ no more
The two top prospects for the Oakland A’s are tearing it up in Triple-A
Matt McLain and Christian Encarnacion-Strand, the Oakland A’s top two prospects, are no longer rehabbing injuries. They’re tearing it up in Triple-A Las Vegas.
McLain, a 23-year-old shortstop, missed most of the 2022 season with a hamstring injury. He’s played just 23 games in Triple-A this year, but he’s hitting .344 with three home runs and 15 RBIs.
He’s also shown good speed, stealing five bases. Encarnacion-Strand, a 24-year-old outfielder, missed the first month of the season with a quad injury. He’s played 30 games in Triple-A and is hitting .302 with four home runs and 20 RBIs.
Both players are showing why they’re considered top prospects.
McLain is a good hitter with good speed and fielding skills. Encarnacion-Strand has power and a good arm in the outfield.
Both players are expected to make their MLB debuts this season. McLain could be called up as early as next month. Encarnacion-Strand could be called up later in the summer.
The A’s have been one of the worst teams in baseball this season, but the future is bright with McLain and Encarnacion-Strand on the way.
