Cleveland Cavaliers acquire Robin Lopez from Orlando Magic
Lopez to help bolster Cleveland's thin frontcourt
The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired center Robin Lopez from the Orlando Magic in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced on Wednesday.
Lopez, 34, is a veteran of 15 NBA seasons and has played for the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, Washington Wizards, Orlando Magic, and now the Cavaliers.
He averaged 6.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game last season for the Magic.
Lopez brings experience and toughness to Cleveland
Lopez is a physical presence in the paint and is known for his toughness and rebounding ability.
He is also a good passer and can score in the post.
Lopez is expected to help bolster Cleveland's thin frontcourt, which includes Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, and Kevin Love.
The Cavaliers are hoping that Lopez can provide some much-needed depth and experience to their team.
Lopez excited to join the Cavaliers
Lopez said he is excited to join the Cavaliers and is looking forward to contributing to the team's success.
“I'm excited to be a part of this young team,” Lopez said.
“I think we have a lot of potential, and I'm looking forward to helping us reach our goals.”
Lopez could make his debut against former team
Lopez could make his debut for the Cavaliers on Wednesday night against his former team, the Orlando Magic.
The game will be played at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
