Dom Amore: Seniors leaving UConn football better than they found it
UConn football seniors depart feeling good about program's future
Seniors played key roles in UConn's turnaround season
The UConn football team's senior class is leaving the program in a better place than they found it.
When this group of seniors arrived in Storrs in 2019, the Huskies were coming off a winless season and had not had a winning record since 2010.
But the seniors helped lead UConn to a 6-7 record in 2022, the program's first winning season since 2010.
The seniors played a key role in UConn's turnaround season.
They provided leadership on and off the field, and they helped create a winning culture within the program.
The seniors are leaving UConn with a sense of accomplishment.
They helped turn the program around, and they set the foundation for future success.
Seniors reflect on their time at UConn
“It's been a great four years,” said senior captain Jack Zergiotis.
“We've been through a lot together, but we've always stuck together.”
“We're leaving this program in a better place than we found it, and we're proud of that.”
Senior linebacker Ian Swenson agreed.
“We've come a long way in the past four years,” Swenson said.
“We've learned how to win, and we've learned how to be a team.”
“We're going to miss playing together, but we know that the program is in good hands.”
The future of UConn football
The future of UConn football is bright.
The Huskies have a talented group of young players, and they have a strong coaching staff led by Jim Mora.
The seniors are confident that the program will continue to improve in the years to come.
“I'm excited about the future of UConn football,” Zergiotis said.
“We've laid the foundation for success, and I know that the program is going to continue to grow and improve.”
“I can't wait to see what the future holds for this program.”
