Lakers' Austin Reaves: Goes to locker room in pain

Lakers' Austin Reaves suffers injury during game

Young guard exits game with left leg pain

Reaves underwent an MRI, results were not yet available

Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves left the game against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night with left leg pain and did not return.

Reaves, who is averaging 7.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game this season, went down with the injury with 3:40 remaining in the second quarter. He was driving to the basket when he appeared to get tangled up with Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon and went down in a heap.

Reaves was able to walk off the court under his own power, but he went straight to the locker room. The Lakers announced that he would not return to the game.

After the game, Lakers coach Darvin Ham said that Reaves had undergone an MRI, but the results were not yet available.

“We'll see what the MRI says,” Ham said. “Hopefully it's nothing too serious.”

The Lakers are already without Anthony Davis, who is dealing with a right foot injury, so losing Reaves would be a big blow.

Reaves has been a key part of the Lakers' rotation this season, and he has played well in Davis' absence. He is a good defender and he can knock down shots from the outside.

If Reaves is out for an extended period of time, it will be a big loss for the Lakers.

The Lakers are currently 13-14 and in eighth place in the Western Conference. They are scheduled to host the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night.
