Syracuse and Le Moyne to Face Off in Season Opener
Syracuse, N.Y. – Local rivals Syracuse University and Le Moyne College will tip off the 2024-25 college basketball season against each other on Monday, Nov. 11, at the JMA Wireless Dome. The game will be the first of a four-year series between the two schools that will see the teams alternate hosting the contest each year. This year's game will be the first meeting between the two programs since Dec. 10, 2015, when Syracuse defeated Le Moyne, 88-64, at the Carrier Dome. The Orange are coming off a 16-17 season in which they finished eighth in the ACC with a 9-11 record. Syracuse returns four starters from last year's team, including leading scorer Judah Mintz and rebounder Jesse Edwards. The Dolphins are coming off a 16-12 season in which they finished second in the Northeast Conference with a 12-6 record. Le Moyne returns three starters from last year's team, including leading scorer Isaiah Stewart. The game is expected to be a sellout as both schools have a strong fan base in Central New York.
Syracuse and Le Moyne Have a Long History
Syracuse and Le Moyne have a long history of playing each other, dating back to 1947. The two schools have met 34 times, with Syracuse holding a 27-7 advantage. The Orange have won the last four meetings between the two teams and have been the better team more recently, but that doesn't mean that Le Moyne isn't capable of winning the game.
