Lakers Lose to Pistons in Blowout, LeBron James Suffers Ankle Injury

LeBron James Suffers Ankle Injury, Status for Next Game Uncertain

LeBron James suffered an ankle injury in the Los Angeles Lakers' 121-91 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. James left the game in the third quarter after rolling his ankle on a drive to the basket. He did not return to the game.

The severity of James' injury is not yet known, but he is expected to undergo an MRI on Saturday. The Lakers said James will be listed as day-to-day.

Lakers Struggled Without James

The Lakers struggled mightily without James on the floor. They were outscored by 20 points in the third quarter and by 15 points in the fourth quarter.

Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 24 points and 12 rebounds, but he was the only Lakers player to score more than 15 points.

Pistons Dominated the Game

The Pistons, meanwhile, dominated the game from start to finish. They shot 52.4% from the field and 40.7% from three-point range.

Jerami Grant led the Pistons with 28 points, while Saddiq Bey added 20 points and Isaiah Stewart had 18 points and 14 rebounds.

What's Next for the Lakers?

The Lakers will return to action on Sunday when they host the Golden State Warriors. It is unclear if James will be able to play in that game.

If James is unable to play, the Lakers will be without their best player and will be facing a tough challenge against the Warriors, who are one of the best teams in the NBA.
