Nichols' 24 points lead Jayhawks to 82-55 win
Nichols continues to impress in her sophomore season
LAWRENCE, Kan. – S'Mya Nichols put together another impressive performance to help lead the Kansas Jayhawks to an 82-55 win over the Lindenwood Lions on Tuesday night at Allen Fieldhouse.
The sophomore guard finished with a game-high 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. She also added five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Nichols has now scored in double figures in all four games this season for the Jayhawks.
“S'Mya is a special player,” Kansas coach Brandon Schneider said. “She's got a great feel for the game and she's a great scorer.
The Jayhawks raced out to a 20-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
Zarah McQuizzie added 15 points for Kansas.
The Jayhawks improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Lions fell to 1-3.
Kansas will be back in action on Friday when they host the Ole Miss Rebels.
Nichols continues to impress in her sophomore season
Nichols has been one of the most impressive players in the Big 12 this season.
The sophomore guard is averaging 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.
She is also shooting 50.0% from the field and 40.0% from three-point range.
Nichols has helped lead the Jayhawks to a 3-1 start this season.
“I'm just trying to do my part to help the team win,” Nichols said. “I'm just trying to be a leader and do whatever it takes to win.
Nichols is a rising star in the Big 12 and she is poised for a big season for the Jayhawks.
