Birmingham City look to improve squad depth in January

Blues assess options in League One as well as Europe

Davies wants to bring in one or two new faces

Birmingham City are assessing their options in the January transfer window as they look to improve their squad depth.

Manager Chris Davies has identified several areas where he would like to strengthen, including at center-back, left-back, and in midfield.

Davies is keen to bring in one or two new faces, but he is also mindful of the club's financial situation.

As a result, he is looking at players who are out of contract or who are available on loan.

One player who has been linked with a move to St Andrew's is Bristol Rovers defender Alfie Kilgour.

The 24-year-old is out of contract in the summer and would be available on a free transfer.

Davies is also thought to be interested in signing a left-back, with Mansfield Town's George Maris a possible target.

The 23-year-old has been in impressive form for the Stags this season and would provide competition for George Friend.

In midfield, Davies is keen to add a creative player who can help to create chances for the likes of Scott Hogan and Troy Deeney.

One player who has been linked with a move to Birmingham is Fleetwood Town's Josh Morris.

The 27-year-old has scored five goals in 21 appearances for the Cod Army this season and would provide Davies with another attacking option.

Davies is also open to the possibility of signing players from Europe.

He has a good track record of signing players from abroad, having previously brought in the likes of Jonathan Leko, Jeremie Bela, and Maxime Colin.

The January transfer window opens on January 1st and closes on January 31st.
