Family and friends will join together to say a final farewell to Second World War Royal Navy veteran Ron. The service will be held at St. Peter's Church in the town centre on March 15th at 11am.
Ron, who passed away peacefully at home on February 22nd, served in the Atlantic and Arctic during the war.
His medals included the Atlantic Star, the Arctic Star, and the 1939-45 Star.
Ron was a long-standing member of the Royal Naval Association and took part in many Remembrance Day parades.
He was also a keen gardener and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Ron Was A 'True Gentleman'
Ron's daughter, Jane, said: “My father was a wonderful man, a true gentleman and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all.”
The service will be led by the Rev. Canon Jeremy Dussek. A reception will be held after the service at the Church Hall.
