Zhilei Zhang: “Joshua Is Finished, Should Look Into Investment”
Chinese Heavyweight Zhang Calls Time on Joshua's Career
Joshua's Defeat to Usyk Raises Serious Doubts About Future
Chinese heavyweight contender Zhilei Zhang has declared that Anthony Joshua's career is over following his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. Zhang, who is ranked 15th by the WBC, believes that Joshua should now consider retiring from boxing and exploring other business ventures.
“Joshua is finished,” Zhang told Sky Sports. “He has nothing left to prove in boxing. He has achieved great things in the sport, but it is time for him to move on.
Zhang pointed to Joshua's lack of adaptability as a key factor in his downfall. “He is too reliant on his power and size,” Zhang said. “He needs to develop more skills if he wants to compete with the best heavyweights in the world.”
Joshua has now lost three of his last five fights, including two defeats to Usyk. The Ukrainian southpaw has proved to be a stylistic nightmare for Joshua, outboxing him with ease on both occasions.
Zhang believes that Joshua's best days are behind him and that he should now focus on his business interests. “He has made a lot of money in boxing,” Zhang said. “He should now look into investing his money and building a successful business empire.”
It remains to be seen whether Joshua will heed Zhang's advice. The British heavyweight has previously stated that he is determined to regain his world titles. However, it is clear that he faces an uphill battle to do so.
