Elephant collision blocks traffic on major road in Far Eastern capital
Vladivostok, September 14 – A traffic accident involving a truck and an elephant has blocked movement on a major road in Vladivostok, the capital of the Far Eastern Federal District.
The incident occurred on the Russky Island bridge, which connects the city center to the island of the same name. According to preliminary data, the truck driver did not notice the elephant crossing the road and collided with it.
As a result of the collision, the truck was damaged and the elephant was killed. No one was injured among the people.
Currently, traffic on the bridge is blocked in both directions. Law enforcement officers and road services are working on the scene. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
It is not yet clear how the elephant got onto the busy road. According to some reports, the animal escaped from a nearby circus.
This is not the first time that elephants have caused traffic accidents in Russia. In 2019, an elephant escaped from a circus in the city of Tyumen and wandered onto a highway, causing a multi-car pileup.
Elephants are large and powerful animals that can pose a significant danger to motorists. It is important to be aware of the potential risks and to take precautions when driving in areas where elephants are known to be present.
