Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan national football teams lose World Cup qualifiers
Kyrgyzstan loses to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan loses to Japan
The Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan national football teams both lost their respective matches in the second round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Kyrgyzstan lost 1-0 to Tajikistan in Dushanbe, while Uzbekistan lost 4-0 to Japan in Saitama.
Kyrgyzstan vs. Tajikistan
Kyrgyzstan started the match brightly and had a few chances to take the lead in the first half, but they were unable to convert their chances. Tajikistan grew into the game as the half wore on and eventually took the lead in the 35th minute through a penalty from Ehsoni Panshanbe.
Kyrgyzstan pushed for an equalizer in the second half, but they were unable to break down the Tajikistan defense. Tajikistan held on to claim a 1-0 victory and move into second place in Group F.
Uzbekistan vs. Japan
Uzbekistan started the match well and had a few chances to take the lead in the first half, but they were unable to convert their chances. Japan grew into the game as the half wore on and eventually took the lead in the 25th minute through a goal from Takumi Minamino.
Japan doubled their lead in the 34th minute through a goal from Kyogo Furuhashi. Uzbekistan pulled one back in the 58th minute through a goal from Eldor Shomurodov, but Japan restored their two-goal lead in the 61st minute through a goal from Daichi Kamada.
Japan added a fourth goal in the 86th minute through a goal from Junya Ito. Uzbekistan were unable to find a way back into the game and eventually lost 4-0.
The results leave Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan with no points after two matches in Group F. Japan and Tajikistan are both on six points after two matches.
