Moscow to raise transport tax

The Moscow City Duma has adopted in the first reading a bill to increase the transport tax rate.

The new rates will come into effect from 1 January 2024. For cars with an engine capacity of up to 100 horsepower, the tax will increase by 10%, from 12 to 13 rubles per horsepower.

For cars with an engine capacity of over 100 horsepower, the tax will increase by 15%, from 15 to 17 rubles per horsepower.

The bill was supported by 36 deputies, with 3 voting against.

The Moscow City Duma has also adopted in the first reading a bill to increase the tax rate on property of individuals. The new rates will come into effect from 1 January 2024.

For apartments and residential buildings, the tax rate will increase from 0.1% to 0.15%. For non-residential premises, the tax rate will increase from 0.5% to 0.75%.

The bill was supported by 37 deputies, with 3 voting against.
