Chris Wallace Departs CNN After Three Years at Network
Longtime Journalist Leaves Network to Focus on New Projects
Wallace Joined CNN in 2019 After 18 Years at Fox News
Chris Wallace, the veteran journalist and former host of CNN's “Who's Talking to Chris Wallace?,” has departed from the network after three years. The move was announced by CNN on December 29, 2022, and comes as Wallace prepares to launch his own production company. Wallace joined CNN in 2019 after a highly successful 18-year career at Fox News, where he hosted the Sunday morning news program “Fox News Sunday.” At CNN, Wallace hosted a variety of programs, including the primetime interview show “Who's Talking to Chris Wallace?,” the Sunday morning news show “Inside Politics,” and a daily newsletter. Wallace is known for his incisive interviews and tough questioning of newsmakers, and he has been praised for his fairness and objectivity. He is also a best-selling author, and his book “Countdown Bin Laden: The Untold Story of the 247-Day Hunt to Bring the Mastermind of 9/11 to Justice” was published in 2012. In a statement, Wallace said that he is grateful for his time at CNN and that he is looking forward to the next chapter in his career. “I have enjoyed my three years at CNN and am grateful to the network for giving me the opportunity to host a variety of programs,” Wallace said. “I wish CNN all the best in the future.” CNN President Chris Licht thanked Wallace for his contributions to the network and wished him well in his future endeavors. “Chris Wallace is a consummate journalist and we are grateful for his contributions to CNN,” Licht said. “We wish him all the best in his new endeavors.” Wallace's departure from CNN comes at a time of transition for the network. Licht has been making changes to the network's programming and staff since taking over as president in May 2022, and Wallace's departure is part of that process. It is not yet known what Wallace's next move will be, but he is expected to launch his own production company in the near future.
