St Petersburg will impose temporary traffic restrictions from November 17-19 to ensure the safety and security of major events taking place in the city.
The restrictions will affect several major thoroughfares, including Nevsky Prospekt, Moskovsky Prospekt, and Ligovsky Prospekt.
Only essential travel is advised during this time.
Affected areas and times
The following areas will be affected by the traffic restrictions:
- Nevsky Prospekt from Palace Square to Ploshchad Vosstaniya
- Moskovsky Prospekt from Sennaya Ploshchad to Pulkovo Airport
- Ligovsky Prospekt from Ploshchad Vosstaniya to Obvodny Kanal
- Suvorovsky Prospekt from Nevsky Prospekt to Ligovsky Prospekt
- Kutuzovskaya Naberezhnaya from Troitsky Bridge to Blagoveshchensky Bridge
The restrictions will be in place from 6am to midnight on November 17-19.
Alternative routes
Drivers are advised to use alternative routes during the traffic restrictions.
The following routes are suggested:
- For travel between the city center and the airport, use Pulkovsky Highway.
- For travel between the city center and the south of the city, use Kirovsky Prospekt or Dachny Prospekt.
- For travel between the city center and the north of the city, use Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt or Primorsky Prospekt.
Public transportation
Public transportation will continue to operate during the traffic restrictions.
However, some bus and tram routes may be rerouted.
Passengers are advised to check with their local public transportation provider for more information.
Pedestrians and cyclists
Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to use caution when crossing the streets during the traffic restrictions.
Drivers are reminded to yield to pedestrians and cyclists.
