Jon Jones reveals the exact moment he felt unbeatable

The former light heavyweight king has opened up about his mindset during his dominant run

Jones has not tasted defeat since 2009

Jon Jones has revealed the exact moment he felt unbeatable. The former light heavyweight king has opened up about his mindset during his dominant run, which saw him defend his title a record 11 times.

“I felt unbeatable after I beat Shogun Rua,” Jones told ESPN. “I knew I was the best in the world, and I was just getting started.”

Jones defeated Rua in March 2011 to win the light heavyweight title. He would go on to defend his belt against a who’s who of the division, including Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans, and Daniel Cormier.

Jones’ reign of dominance came to an end in 2015 when he was stripped of the title after testing positive for a banned substance. He was also suspended from the UFC for a year.

Jones returned to the UFC in 2016 and has since won three fights in a row. He is currently scheduled to challenge heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou later this year.

Despite his recent success, Jones says he does not feel the same level of invincibility that he did during his light heavyweight run.

“I’m not the same fighter I was back then,” Jones said. “I’m older, and I’ve been through a lot. But I still believe I’m the best in the world, and I’m confident I can beat anyone.”
