Memphis Depay's double sends Dutch through as they beat Wales 3-2 in Cardiff

Netherlands booked their place in the last eight of the Nations League after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Wales in Cardiff on Tuesday.

The Dutch were in control for much of the game and took the lead through Memphis Depay in the 50th minute. Wales equalised through Brennan Johnson just six minutes later, but Depay restored the visitors' lead in the 93rd minute. Rhys Norrington-Davies equalised again for Wales in the 97th minute, but Wout Weghorst scored a dramatic winner for the Netherlands in the 108th minute.

The win means that the Netherlands have won their Nations League group and will now progress to the semi-finals. Wales, meanwhile, will remain in League B.

Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal was pleased with his team's performance, saying: “I am very happy with the win. We played a good game and created a lot of chances. We deserved to win.”

Wales manager Rob Page was disappointed with the result, but praised his team's effort, saying: “I am disappointed with the result, but I am proud of my players. They gave everything they had and we were unlucky not to get a point.”
