Valery Karpin, who recently became the head coach of the Russian national team, went down in history as a great footballer.

Valery Karpin is a famous Russian footballer. In the 1990s, he played in Spain for the Celta, Valencia and Real Sociedad. Karpin's coach in Celta was Fernando Castro Santos, who remembered Valery as a good specialist.

“Karpin was a good player,” Castro Santos said. “He was a very technical player, with excellent passing and shooting technique.”

After finishing his playing career, Karpin went into coaching. He worked with Spanish clubs and with the Russian national team. In 2021, he was appointed head coach of the Russian national team.

The Russian national team is currently preparing for the 2022 World Cup. The team's main goal is to get out of the group. Karpin is confident that the team will be able to achieve this goal.

“We have a good team,” Karpin said. “We have experienced players as well as young and talented players. I am sure that we can achieve success in the World Cup.
