Rosatom to produce 50 industrial 3D printers for metal printing in 2026
Russian nuclear corporation Rosatom plans to produce 50 industrial 3D printers for printing metal products in 2026.
This was announced by the head of the additive technologies development center of the Rosatom subsidiary, Rusatom – Additive Technologies (RATech), Mikhail Turkov.
He added that the company will test the operation of the first industrial 3D printer in 2023.
According to Turkov, several printing technologies for various materials such as metal, plastic and ceramics, have already been mastered at the RATech center.
In addition, a unique technology for creating functional coatings and repairing products using a laser has been developed.
The head of the center said that this technology allows restoring worn-out or damaged parts and protecting them from wear and corrosion.
He noted that the company plans to implement the serial production of this technology in 2023.
The development of additive technologies is one of the key areas of Rosatom's innovation strategy.
The corporation is actively investing in the R&D of new materials, printing technologies and software for 3D printing.
Rosatom plans to use additive technologies to manufacture spare parts and components for its nuclear power plants and other industries.
The corporation believes that additive technologies have the potential to revolutionize manufacturing by reducing production costs, lead times and waste.
