Wales kick off their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Iceland
Kieffer Moore's second-half equaliser canceled out Jon Dadi Bodvarsson's opener as Wales began their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Iceland in Cardiff on Saturday
Iceland took the lead in the 20th minute at a rain-soaked Cardiff City Stadium when Bodvarsson swept home from close range after Albert Gudmundsson's cross.
Wales pushed for an equalizer, with Gareth Bale curling an effort wide from the edge of the area before Aaron Ramsey tested Hannes Halldorsson with a low drive.
Kieffer Moore went close for Wales early in the second half, heading just wide from close range, before Ramsey forced another save from Halldorsson.
Moore eventually got his goal in the 64th minute, nodding in from close range after Connor Roberts' cross.
Wales came close to a winner late on, but Halldorsson denied both Moore and Brennan Johnson.
What does the result mean?
The draw leaves Wales in third place in Group B4, behind leaders the Netherlands and second-placed Poland.
Iceland, meanwhile, are bottom of the group after losing their opening game to the Netherlands.
What's next?
Wales travel to Belgium on Tuesday for their next Nations League match, while Iceland host the Netherlands.
