Coming to Australia? What You Need to Know About the IPC

What is an Incoming Passenger Card (IPC)?

An IPC is a form that passengers must complete when entering Australia. It collects information such as your name, passport number, and contact details.

Who needs to complete an IPC?

All passengers entering Australia, regardless of their nationality or visa status, must complete an IPC.

How to complete an IPC

IPCs are usually provided to passengers on board their flight or ship. You can also download an IPC from the Australian Government website.

To complete an IPC, simply fill out the form with your personal information and travel details.

What happens after you complete an IPC?

Once you have completed an IPC, you will need to hand it to a Customs and Border Protection officer when you arrive in Australia.

What if I lose my IPC?

If you lose your IPC, you can download a new one from the Australian Government website or obtain one from a Customs and Border Protection officer when you arrive in Australia.

What if I have questions about the IPC?

If you have any questions about the IPC, you can contact the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service on 1300 363 263.

Changes to the Australia Travel Declaration

The Australian Government is currently working on a digital replacement for the IPC, known as the Australia Travel Declaration (ATD).

From later this year, the ATD will be rolled out on selected international flights and ships.

The ATD will be a more convenient and efficient way for passengers to provide their information to the Australian Government.

Benefits of the ATD

The ATD will offer a number of benefits for passengers, including:

  • Reduced paperwork
  • Faster processing times
  • Improved security

The ATD is part of the Australian Government's commitment to making travel to and from Australia easier and more efficient.
