Longtime Griz fans eager for season opener at Washington-Grizzly Stadium

Countdown to Kickoff

The Montana Grizzlies are set to open their 2023 season at home against the Western Illinois Leathernecks on Thursday, August 31st. The game will be the first of the season for both teams and will mark the return of the Griz to Washington-Grizzly Stadium after a long offseason.

The Griz are coming off a disappointing 2022 season in which they finished with a record of 5-6. However, they have high hopes for this season and believe they have the potential to make a run at the FCS playoffs.

The Leathernecks are coming off a 7-4 season in 2022 and will be looking to improve on that record this year. They are led by quarterback Connor Sampson, who is one of the most exciting young players in the FCS.
